Emaj: Rootsman

A dub single straight from the UK: Emaj from Dub Culture Records wanted a cover for his new single Rootsman, illustrating this tree creature made of roots & dub related equipment and machines. The tune itself sounds very mystical & esoteric.

The Rootsman, a sentient tree thousands of years old. The tree feeds itself with machines and equipment brought over to the forest by humans setting up illegal raves, it punishes everyone who disrespects the forest by sending its two demons and its giant insects to terrify the wrongdoers. Some say they can hear sounds coming out of the forest and many suspect that the tree is now using the confiscated machines for its own pleasure.

Mighty Pepper Meets Emaj Ft Fikir Amlak: Freedom Time

The second in the series for Dub Culture Records, a simple illustrated cover using ethnic symbology made out of stone.

This time, a collaboration between two producers and an MC. Mighty Pepper meets Emaj featuring Fikir Amlak. Dub Culture Records asked me to use an ethnic symbol originating from western Africa, one of the Adinkra symbols originating mainly from Ghana which generally represent concepts and aphorisms. The Fawohodie symbol is a representation of independence, freedom & emancipation.
